a witness
a dupe
spectators of some great celestial show
a spectacular end to primordial soup?
Is humanity passive?
An off-handed chance?
Adventitious occurrence resulting in life?
Or was there some plan—
were we crafted by hand
before being cast into chaos and strife?
Some seek the answer
relief from the doubt
that plagues them and causes a questioning fear
but only the gods know what life´s all about
and the gods never tell us what we want to hear.
