About the BellaOnline Desserts Editor
Karen Hancock

I have been cooking, eating, reading about, dreaming about, and writing about Food, my favorite subject, for over 40 years. I grew up in Utah with a stay-at-home, fabulous-cook Mom who taught me to cook, and inspired me to learn everything I could about food. Presently, I run my own custom catering business, and teach cooking classes to women’s, religious, community, and private company groups. I am also a flight attendant for a major airline and travel the world, tasting new dishes, then recreating those dishes at home to use in my catering business, cooking classes, and of course, on BellaOnline. My taste testers include my husband, four grown children, two grandchildren, and lots of friends, neighbors, and fellow flight attendants.

I’m of the opinion that Dessert is an essential characteristic of a full and happy life. Most would agree that a good dessert can change a bad mood into a good one in just a few bites. Dessert is something to be enjoyed, albeit in moderation, several times a week, and it’s a given that a really good dessert is worth an hour or so on the treadmill or stair-stepper.

My goal for the Dessert Site on BellaOnline is to present a variety of delicious, and appealing desserts, made with high-quality ingredients, that can be prepared by cooks of all skill levels. I’ll post traditional and new desserts to be served on all occasions, including special ones for upcoming seasons and holidays. In addition, I’ll offer step-by-step instructions for basics such as pie crust, puff pastry, pastry cream, ganache, and other essential dessert components. For those who are building a cooking library, I’ll post occasional book reviews on new and classic dessert cookbooks.

I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to write about my passion, food, on such a reputable, diverse women´s site, BellaOnline. I’m hoping to inspire you to create something wonderful to serve for tonight’s dessert, and would love to hear from you – comments, questions, suggestions, and recipe requests.

Remember, Life´s too short to skip dessert!
